Augusto Odone

I’d never heard of Augusto Odone, the Italian economist who taught himself enough medicine to come up with a breakthrough treatment for his son Lorenzo’s illness. ALD is a rare and terrible illness, but thanks to Augusto, there is now a way to stave off the symptoms.

Augusto Odone died last month, and all I know of him comes from a fascinating but short obituary in The Economist.
